The Cisco AIR-LAP1262N-x-K9 belongs to the Aironet 1260 Series, factory-shipped lightweight CAPWAP access point built for the Cisco Unified Wireless Network (CUWN) architecture. This lightweight variantcannot operate standalone. It must establish encrypted CAPWAP/LWAPP control tunnels to an AireOS wireless LAN controller for all configuration, security rules, RF resource management and mobility services.
Two independent active radios operate simultaneously with 2×3 MIMO:
  • 2.4 GHz: IEEE 802.11b/g/n, maximum PHY rate up to 300 Mbps
  • 5 GHz: IEEE 802.11a/n, maximum PHY rate up to 300 Mbps
    Six RP-TNC antenna ports (3 ports per radio) enable flexible deployment of omnidirectional, directional, sector and high-gain external antennas, making it suitable for warehouses, manufacturing facilities and large retail spaces requiring customized RF coverage. The rugged metal chassis supports an extended operating temperature range for semi-industrial indoor environments.
Power is supplied via IEEE 802.3af PoE to simplify ceiling and wall mounting. The platform introduces Cisco M-Drive technology including ClientLink for improved legacy client performance, BandSelect to steer dual-band clients to the less congested 5 GHz band, and VideoStream optimized multicast for video applications. All WLAN definitions, authentication profiles, roaming parameters and threat detection policies are centrally managed on the wireless controller.
