The Cisco AIR-LAP1041N-x-K9 belongs to the Aironet 1040 Series, factory-shipped lightweight CAPWAP/LWAPP access point built for the Cisco Unified Wireless Network (CUWN) architecture. This lightweight variantcannot operate standalone. It must establish encrypted CAPWAP control tunnels to an AireOS wireless LAN controller for all configuration, security rules, RF management and mobility services.
It features a single 2.4 GHz radio with 2×2 MIMO supporting IEEE 802.11b/g/n, maximum PHY rate up to 300 Mbps. Integrated omnidirectional diversity antennas deliver balanced indoor coverage for small offices, retail spaces and branch locations with high volumes of legacy 2.4 GHz clients such as barcode scanners and IoT devices. The compact low-profile plastic enclosure simplifies ceiling tile and wall mounting.
Power is supplied via standard IEEE 802.3af PoE, eliminating separate DC power adapters. All WLAN definitions, authentication parameters, roaming profiles and threat detection policies are centrally managed from the wireless controller. It supports WPA2 enterprise security, wireless intrusion detection/prevention (WIDS/WIPS), rogue AP containment, WMM QoS, and Layer 2 / Layer 3 client roaming.
Lifecycle Status: AIR-LAP1041N-x-K9 reached End-of-Sale (EoS) and End-of-Support (EoL). It is compatible only with legacy AireOS WLC platforms;incompatible with modern Catalyst 9800 IOS-XE wireless controllers. The autonomous equivalent PID is AIR-AP1041N-x-K9; bidirectional firmware conversion between autonomous IOS and lightweight CAPWAP images is supported via TFTP.
