The Cisco AIR-WLC2125-K9 is the highest-capacity model within the legacy Cisco 2100 WLC family, engineered for large remote enterprise branches, multi-location retail chains, mid-sized school campuses, medium hospitality venues and dense SMB offices that require centralized lightweight AP management with greater scale than AIR-WLC2106 (6 AP) and AIR-WLC2112 (12 AP) variants. As a foundational CUWN hardware device, it establishes CAPWAP/LWAPP data tunnels to all joined lightweight APs to deliver centralized RF orchestration, unified enterprise wireless security, seamless Layer 2/3 client mobility, integrated guest access and enterprise-grade VoWLAN voice over Wi-Fi functionality.
This controller ships with a permanent hard license supporting up to 25 lightweight APs without additional upgrade entitlements. It integrates an embedded 8-port Fast Ethernet switch, with ports 7 and 8 providing native 802.3af PoE output to directly power connected APs, eliminating the need for external PoE injectors for on-site deployments. Its architecture is PCI DSS validated, making it ideal for retail environments deploying wireless POS payment terminals.
This hardware platform reached Cisco End-of-Sale (EoS) on October 7, 2020 and End-of-Support (EoL) status; all available stock consists of surplus, used or certified refurbished units. It is only compatible with legacy Aironet lightweight AP generations including 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500 and early 802.11n access points. Standalone administration is available via local HTTPS web GUI, SSH/Telnet CLI or RS-232 serial console; centralized multi-controller fleet management is supported through the legacy Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS) platform.
